    Prepara’s Countertop Hydroponic System

    hydroponic in the windowsill

Slowly but surely my plants are coming along. The sweet basil is looking good, with big bright green leaves, but the chillis, not so much. The chili peppers are definitely smaller than they should be at this point, which leaves me to wonderif they will produce a single pepper. If you can’t see the pictures go to http://hydroponicsdictionary.com to see the whole story.

As an experiment I can’t say that I’m too surprised. I figured my plants would be farther along than they are, but the cold weather and short days came sooner than I expected, and shorter and colder than I expected. The windowsills in our new place are colder than I had anticipated a few weeks ago in the milder weather. I guess the double pane didn’t help a whole ridiculous amount in keeping the temperatures up.

I might take the plants to a warmer spot to finish them off, and starting a fresh crop in April. What do you guys think? Would it be better to trash the plants now, and start fresh? Finish them off at a different spot and see if they pick up the pace? Or should I just leave them where they are and see if I can get any peppers to pop on the windowsill?
