How To Plan, Organize And Build Your Own Indoor Grow Room

    By Flower | February 7, 2012

Indoor farmers have less issues to deal with, but that doesn’t mean that starting an indoor farm is easy because even the most experienced indoor grower can encounter issues. Before you order the plants you wish to grow, you need to have a well-constructed plan for how to get the room designed. While each indoor farmer may have different plants and objectives, one goal all people share is having healthy plants that can grow as quickly as possible, and to make this goal a reality, a grower will need equipment and a well designed room.

    Budget

The number of LED lights, size of the room, number of plants and any air ventilators in place will determine the costs for starting a room, and some may be as cheap as $1,000 dollars to as high as $10,000 dollars, and most of the costs will come from grow products. The room in which your plants are held must also have sufficient air circulation to keep the plants well ventilated, which may cost you additional cash, and one of the largest costs comes from growing products, such as fans and lights, as these devices range in the hundreds to few thousands of dollars. Before you run off and get the first set of grow items you come across, do your research to recognize the best air-cooled lighting systems, pots and grow lights for a room.

    Room Setup

The equipment you end up buying for a room is as vital as the room the plants are placed in, and the number of plants and size of the room is another problem farmers must combat. In order to offer the best space for plants, you will want to paint a room white to bounce light off the walls and hit the plants, while all LED panels should be directly over the plants. Before you start placing items inside the room, you’ll want to plan out where plants, ventilation systems (if any), lights and additional equipment will be placed. It is great to use masking tape and blueprint sketches to gain a better undersanding as to where exactly equipment will go and how much space you actually need.

    Lights

One of the most crucial pieces of equipment will be the LED grow light in the center of the room; for small operations, only one light may be necessary, but for bigger operations, multiple lights may need to be bought. The LED light panel you end up purchasing will be used every day for extended periods of time, and it is important that you go ahead and invest in a superior panel over a cheap one, as less expensive, poorly constructed lights will not last as long and will not help grow plants properly. Plants that are grown under a cheap LED panel tend to grow slower and create less healthy looking leaves and fruit.
