Developing Bonsai Trees Is A Satisfying Hobby

Watching bonsai develop and shaping them into beautiful sculptures is a fascinating and very rewarding pastime. Growing bonsai trees is not an expensive hobby with not many specialist tools needed, but a magnificant bonsai can be more of a statement in your home than many an expensive ornament. A bonsai tree is a living ornament.
Bonsai are container grown trees that are developed to be miniatures of the full size counterpart. Bonsai trees can be created from nearly any perennial wood stemmed trees or shrubs that produce branches and is able to develop small through container confinement with the aid of crown and root trimming.
Bonsai trees can be grown from seed, from young shoots lifted from the countryside (please have regard for any laws regarding taking wild plants in your region), or can be purchased as ready grown bonsai. Although growing bonsai trees from seed is the slowest route, but you will then have total control of how your bonsai tree will grow.
Bonsai are planted in special bonsai pots that not only restrict root development, but are also designed to further enhance the beauty of your bonsai. Specialist soils are available that give you the perfect environment for your bonsai tree to grow in.
Many techniques are used to shape and give unique character to your bonsai tree including leaf trimming, wiring, grafting, short term dwarfing and deadwood, (a method of aging bark). Few specialist tools are needed to shape bonsai, and these can easily be bought cheaply. Everything you require to start growing bonsai can easily be purchased from a bonsai nursery.
Bonsai are available as both indoor and outdoor types, some bonsai are best if left outdoors in the summer months and then grown inside during the winter.
And for anyone that likes the idea, but doesn’t want to maintain bonsai, you can even purchase artificial bonsai trees.
If you wonder if growing bonsai trees is for you, I would say have a go, bonsai are simple to grow, take very little of your time, every bonsai tree is unique, and who doesn’t admire a bonsai whenever they see one.
