Outdoor wicker patio furniture is very resilient, but the elements to take their toll. Taking the time to protect your furniture is the best way to make sure it lasts for years to come. On the other hand, you may end up replacing much of it every year if you just let it sit outside and just hope nothing happens to it.
Remember that older outdoor furniture will need another layer of sealant or varnish to protect it in the rainy winter months. If you can keep it under a cover during this time of year, that’s even better. Another great factor that tips the scales in favor of furniture made from resin is that it is very easy to clean. If you’re really not worried about looks or style, just go with white wicker patio furniture, it will wear over time but it can serve a purpose and is easily replaceable. Always store plastic furniture away when it’s not in use and store in a shady place away from the sun.
If it ever gets dirty all you have to do is get your backyard hose and spray it on the furniture and the stains get wiped off. Now compare this to other types of outdoor furniture made from metal which are not only very heavy but you also have to watch that the stain proof covering does not wear off which can then make it susceptible to rust.
Now it’s time to pull out your mild detergent and scrub brush. Be careful though that when you are scrubbing the wicker patio furniture sets not to scratch it or you could be finding the process taking even longer. You want to have a clean surface when you are refinishing or the final project may not look overly great. There may be spots that have bubbled up a little and this is usually caused by rust so remove these bubbles and scrape away the rust build up.
